Plain English summary: SayCooee connects community members with each other. We are a matchmaking and introduction platform only. You use SayCooee at your own discretion and risk.
01
About SayCooee
SayCooee is an Australian community platform that helps neighbours connect with each other to share skills, swap goods and services, organise group purchases, grow and share produce, and build stronger local communities.
SayCooee is operated by Amber Chapman (ABN registered, Australia). By accessing or using the SayCooee website, app, or any related services ("the Platform"), you agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms").
If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Platform.
02
Introduction service only
SayCooee is an introduction and matchmaking platform only. We are not an employment agency, labour hire company, barter exchange, marketplace, or service provider. We do not supply, employ, endorse, verify, or control any member, service, skill, good, or arrangement.
SayCooee's role is limited to:
- Providing a platform for members to list what they offer and what they are looking for
- Matching members with potentially compatible neighbours based on location and interests
- Facilitating initial contact between matched members via on-platform messaging
- Displaying community information such as member profiles and completed swap counts
Once two members have connected on the Platform, any further communication, arrangement, exchange, service, or transaction is entirely between those members. SayCooee is not a party to, does not supervise, and accepts no responsibility or liability for, any such arrangement.
This model is consistent with how other well-established Australian and international introduction and matching platforms operate. Platforms such as Airtasker connect people who need work done with people who can do it, but do not employ workers or take responsibility for the quality of work. Care.com, Babysits, and similar childcare introduction platforms connect families with carers but do not employ carers or guarantee their suitability. Employment and contractor platforms such as Seek and LinkedIn facilitate professional connections but are not responsible for what transpires between parties. In each case, the platform's role is to facilitate the introduction — not to be a party to what follows.
03
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, SayCooee expressly disclaims all liability for any loss, damage, injury, claim, cost, or expense of any kind arising from or connected to any interaction, arrangement, exchange, swap, group buy, service, or transaction between members — whether foreseeable or not, and whether in contract, tort, or otherwise.
Without limiting the above, SayCooee accepts no liability for:
- The quality, safety, legality, or suitability of any skill, service, good, or arrangement offered or agreed to by any member
- The accuracy, completeness, or truthfulness of any information provided by any member in their listing or profile
- Any personal injury, property damage, financial loss, or other harm arising from meeting, exchanging with, or engaging with another member
- Any failure by a member to perform or fulfil any agreement, swap, or arrangement
- Any dispute between members
- The conduct, character, or background of any member
- Any tax obligations arising from arrangements made between members
Where liability cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law, our liability is limited to resupplying the relevant service or paying the cost of having that service resupplied, at our sole discretion.
You acknowledge that you use the Platform and engage with other members entirely at your own risk and discretion.
04
Your obligations
By using the Platform, you agree that you:
- Are at least 18 years of age (or have parental consent if 16–17)
- Will provide accurate, truthful, and current information in your profile and listings
- Will treat other members with respect, courtesy, and good faith
- Will not misrepresent your skills, qualifications, identity, or intentions
- Will not use the Platform to harass, stalk, defraud, or harm any person
- Will not post illegal, offensive, misleading, discriminatory, or harmful content
- Will not use the Platform for commercial spam, pyramid schemes, or multi-level marketing
- Will comply with all applicable Australian laws in connection with any arrangement you make
- Will take reasonable precautions for your own safety when meeting other members in person
- Are responsible for your own tax obligations in relation to any exchange or income you receive
05
Safety & trust
SayCooee does not conduct background checks, identity verification, qualification checks, or Working with Children Checks on any member. Member profiles, swap counts, and reviews are self-reported or submitted by other members and are not verified by SayCooee.
When meeting someone you have connected with through SayCooee for the first time, we strongly recommend meeting in a public place, telling someone where you are going, trusting your instincts, and not sharing sensitive personal information (such as financial details or home address) before you feel confident doing so.
For arrangements involving children or vulnerable persons, you are solely responsible for conducting your own due diligence, including requesting a current Working with Children Check or other relevant checks from the other person.
SayCooee reserves the right to remove listings or suspend accounts that we reasonably believe pose a risk to the community, without notice and without liability.
06
Skills exchange
The skills exchange feature allows members to list skills they can offer and indicate areas where they are looking for help, with a view to making mutually agreeable private arrangements with other members.
SayCooee facilitates the introduction only. The terms of any skill swap — including what is exchanged, when, where, and how — are entirely a matter for the members involved. SayCooee is not a party to any such agreement.
- SayCooee does not guarantee that a match will lead to a successful swap
- SayCooee does not verify the skill, qualification, or suitability of any member
- SayCooee does not record, value, or have any involvement in the terms of any swap
- No credit, points, or currency of any kind is issued or redeemed through the skills exchange feature
07
Group buys
The group buys feature allows community members to organise collective purchases from suppliers. SayCooee facilitates the connection between community members and suppliers but is not a party to any purchase contract.
- Any purchase agreement is directly between the buyer and the supplier
- SayCooee does not hold, process, or guarantee any payments
- SayCooee is not liable for any failure by a supplier to deliver goods, or for the quality of goods delivered
- Members participate in group buys at their own risk
08
Tax & barter obligations
Under Australian tax law (including ATO Tax Ruling TR 2010/8), exchanging goods or services may be treated as assessable income at market value for both parties. You are solely responsible for understanding and meeting your own tax obligations — including income tax and GST — in connection with any arrangement you make through SayCooee.
SayCooee is not a barter exchange operator. SayCooee does not maintain any ledger, credit system, time-banking record, or currency in relation to skills swaps. No value is assigned, recorded, or reported by SayCooee in relation to any exchange between members.
Members who operate as personal traders, sole traders, or businesses should seek independent tax advice regarding their obligations.
09
Personal traders & Pro listings
Members who operate as personal traders, sole traders, or micro-businesses may apply for a Pro listing on the Platform. Pro listings are subject to a monthly fee as set out on the Platform from time to time.
By taking out a Pro listing, you confirm that:
- You have any licences, registrations, or qualifications required by law for the services you offer
- You hold appropriate insurance for your activities where required or recommended
- You will comply with all applicable laws (including Australian Consumer Law) in providing your services
- You understand that SayCooee is not your employer and has no liability for your activities
SayCooee reserves the right to remove Pro listings or suspend accounts at any time, with a pro-rata refund of any prepaid fees in the event of removal without cause.
10
Content & conduct
You retain ownership of content you post on the Platform. By posting content, you grant SayCooee a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, distribute, and promote that content in connection with the operation of the Platform.
You must not post content that is unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory, harassing, misleading, infringing of third party rights, sexually explicit, or otherwise harmful. SayCooee may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, at our sole discretion and without liability.
11
Privacy
SayCooee collects and handles personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. We collect only the information necessary to provide the Platform's services.
We do not sell personal information to third parties. We do not share your contact details (phone number, email address) with other members without your explicit consent. On-platform messaging is designed to allow members to connect without sharing personal contact details unless they choose to do so.
By using the Platform, you consent to the collection, use, and storage of your information in accordance with these Terms and our Privacy Policy (available on request at amber@saycooee.com.au).
12
Disputes between members
SayCooee is not a party to any arrangement between members and does not provide dispute resolution services. Any dispute arising from an arrangement between members is a matter for those members to resolve directly.
If you have a concern about another member's conduct on the Platform (such as harassment, fraudulent listings, or safety concerns), please report it to us at amber@saycooee.com.au. We will review reported concerns and take such action as we consider appropriate in our sole discretion, but we are not obligated to take any particular action.
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any dispute regarding these Terms shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
13
Changes to these terms
SayCooee may update these Terms from time to time. We will publish the updated Terms on this page with a revised "last updated" date. Your continued use of the Platform after any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
For material changes, we will endeavour to provide notice via email or a notification on the Platform.
